In 1985, Manhasset residents recognized the need for a safe, self-enriching and fun program for afterschool hours. Together, they worked to create and design a club-like environment for their children. The program was called M.A.X -- the Manhasset Afterschool Xperience, Inc.
We recognize that parents have difficult schedules, and we strive to support them the best we can. We recognize the importance of work, and the stress and demands that are placed on parents by it. We strive to make it easier on parents by giving them the knowledge that their children are in good hands.
We believe that all children deserve love, attention, and nurturing. We believe that a safe environment allows children to explore and grow. At M.A.X., we allow children to have hands-on learning experiences. This fosters age-appropriate development. We believe that positive reinforcement is important for children to develop self-esteem.
Children need an environment that supports free expression and stimulates learning and creativity. Most importantly, we believe that children need to have fun! At M.A.X., we often have ice-cream parties, movie days, and play lots of exciting games, as well as participate in sport activities. Children learn best from experiencing the world around them.
M.A.X. was one of the first ten registered programs in Nassau County.
